I would also like to take this opportunity to Congratulate the Elected Candidates from the Adare Electoral Area to the Limerick County Council.

A Very Big Thank You to all the people ,family and friends who have taken the time out to help me during my campaign ,to the Media The Limerick Leader,The Limerick Post,The Vale Star Observer ,The Golden Vale News / Advertiser for publishing my campaign and 95fm for allowing me their airtime.

A Prominent community activist in Croom has thrown his hat into the ring for the forthcoming local government elections opening up an intriguing electoral battle in the new Adare area. Seamus Sheahan, Main Street, says his involvement in community organisations and the fact that Croom has not had a councillor for forty three years gives him an excellent chance of taking a seat.
“The powers of local government are limited but the absence of representation from Croom for so long has meant years of neglect that would have caused an outcry if it had taken place a few miles down the road in Adare. Quite simply Croom has been forgotten by Limerick County Council and overlooked by all the political parties and the consequences are plain to see.
“For a town our size we have major social problems ,some like drugs and underage drinking can be found everywhere, but in addition Limerick County Council has shown a distinct lack of imagination when it came to social amenities and its record in estate management has been appalling.
“This neglect has had one positive side, however and that is the people of Croom have been forced to shift for themselves and I am hopeful of great things being achieved by the new Croom Development Association spearheaded by Denis Brosnan” said Mr .Sheahan.
Seamus Sheahan, who spent his working life in Islandmore Stud, is now retired and actively involved in numerous local organizations including Croom Voluntary Housing, Care of the Aged, Tidy Towns, Croom Development and is President of the local Soccer Club. He is an avid Sports man Croom and Limerick GAA supporter, Munster and Limerick Rugby long term follower. He is married to Mary Nash from Banogue and they have four children and four grandchildren.
A lifelong member of Fianna Fail, he sought a party nomination for the council elections but was unsuccessful. Political affiliations are highly flexible at local level and I believe my record in the community will help pull local votes from across the political divide, he added.
Adare electoral area has a total population of 31,370.Adare itself at present has two sitting councillors and has never fallen below that.
